Now in its fifth semester, the Public Culture Initiative is pleased to announce two campus and community film events upcoming on March 10 and 11 on the Boise State campus. Both evenings are free, open to the public, and start at 6 p.m.
The main event is Making Documentaries: An Evening with Amanda Stoddard, on Monday evening, March 11 at 6 p.m in the Lookout Room of the SUB. Amanda is a documentary filmmaker and co-director/co-producer of Quiet Heroes, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last January. Amanda’s first documentary feature, 1 Revolution (2011), was shown at festivals around the world and won numerous awards. Amanda directs content at Vavani Productions, where she oversees the development of a robust slate of narrative feature and episodic scripts. Prior to joining Vavani, Amanda worked in many capacities as an editor, assistant director, director, and producer on broadcast and theatrical projects.
On March 10, the evening prior to our main event, we invite campus and community members to the free Idaho premiere of the 2018 documentary film Quiet Heroes, which tells the story of one doctor’s fight against stigma, shame, and ignorance through the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the heartland of America’s west. The screening will begin at 6 p.m. in Skaggs Hall 1301, Micron Business and Economics Building.
