Lab Rules

Engineering computer labs are regulated facilities for use by College of Engineering students, faculty, and staff only. Lab users are expected to comply with the Information Technology Resource Use Policy of Boise State University and the following usage rules:

  • Intentional damage to or theft of lab supplies, equipment or furnishings will be reported to BSU Security and to local law enforcement. Violators will be arrested and prosecuted
  • Viewing pornographic or sexually oriented materials on computers owned by the State of Idaho is illegal and prohibited. Offenders face disciplinary action by University officials and permanently banned from the lab
  • Users must show current Boise State identification to lab staff upon request. Persons without a current Boise State ID are not permitted in the lab
  • Copying or duplicating software is prohibited and often illegal
  • Users are expected to observe a library-like atmosphere in the labs
  • No food or drink
  • No pets (other than service animals) allowed
  • Children of lab users must be supervised at all times
  • Take your things when you leave. Items abandoned for more than 30 minutes may be picked up in the lost and found areas (in the main academic administrative department offices at COEN)
  • Lab management reserves the right to determine appropriate use of the facility and its equipment
  • Disruptive individuals will be ejected from the lab by BSU Security or local law enforcement
  • Persons violating the above rules and regulations will face disciplinary action up to and including arrest and prosecution

University-owned equipment is issued for academic and research purposes, only. Users must not download or store personal items, copyrighted material, or inappropriate content.
