FAQ

Can certificates be completed online?

No. All courses required for the certificate programs are designed to be taught in person.

What is the length of the program?

Students can complete the course requirements in as little as 1 year by taking two classes per semester. Look up courses in the Graduate Catalog to see when they are offered.

What requirements must I complete in order to be eligible for the program?

General

To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Applicants to all certificates should have completed coursework in computer programming or be able to provide documented experience in programming.

Cybersecurity

Upper-division undergraduate coursework in data structures and introductory systems programming. (equivalent to CS 321 and CS 253 at Boise State)

Data Science

Upper-division undergraduate coursework in linear algebra and calculus-based statistics. (equivalent to MATH 301 and MATH 361 at Boise State)

Yes, applicants are not required to have a specific degree, but should have completed coursework in computer programming or be able to provide documented experience in programming. Additionally, applicants must have completed the prerequisite courses for their chosen certificate.

What GPA do I need to be admitted?

Applicants without a Master’s degree are recommended to have a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 40 hours of undergraduate coursework.
Applicants with a Master’s degree are recommended to have a GPA of 3.3 or better in their Master’s degree program. Please note that these are recommendations and applicants are evaluated on all aspects of the application.

What do I need to include in my application?

You must submit official transcripts, a CV (resume), admission questionnaire, and English test scores (international applicants only). For additional details visit the Certificate Admission Requirements page.
