Learn About Ungrading with Susan Blum

Stack of books resting on table, with reading glasses on top.

Curious about the growing use of Ungrading? Are you interested to hear how other educators implement the practice? Then join Susan Blum, cultural, linguistic, and psychological anthropologist specializing in the study of China and the United States, for her webinar on the topic  “Building on Students’ Superpowers: Ungrading, Motivation, Curiosity, and Real Learning”. Her session, which builds on the work in her book “Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to Do Instead)”, will provide an analysis of conventional grading systems and why growing numbers of educators are questioning their use. She then will introduce some of the principles and foundations behind the growing concept of “Ungrading” and present practices that she and her colleagues employ.

The webinar will take place on October 27th, 3:00 PM– 4:30PM via Zoom. Please register to attend. This event is sponsored by Gender Studies, the Department of Sociology, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
