Great Ideas 2023 – That’s a Wrap!

Faculty discuss topic T great ideas 2023

The 2023 Great Ideas for Teaching and Learning Symposium is in the books! Sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and eCampus, participating Boise State educators explored approaches to Experiential Learning or “Learning By Doing”. After a warm welcome by Provost John Buckwalter and CTL Director Daniel Sanford, the day kicked off with an insightful and interactive keynote plenary, facilitated by Dr. Jay Roberts, Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Warren Wilson College and a Fellow with the American Council on Education. The audience learned about and discussed the opportunities of Experiential Learning, and how courses can be enriched through active, integrated, project-based, and community-based modes of learning. Following the key note, the audience learned from their teaching colleagues, via two lightning talk sessions, how they are integrating experiential learning into their classes.

After lunch, Boise State campus partners shared resources for supporting instructors in integrating experiential learning practices into their teaching. The end of the day concluded with a student panel where Boise State students discussed how experiential learning has positively impacted their academic careers.

Thank you to all presenters and participants who made this day truly a celebration of teaching and learning at Boise State! You can review the session materials and recordings on our Great Ideas website
