Bri Lafond

Education Development Specialist (Writing Pedagogy)

Bri recently joined Boise State’s Center for Teaching and Learning as an Educational Development Specialist specializing in writing pedagogy. She has previously served as a faculty member and administrator at a range of institutions, including research universities, community colleges, and small liberal arts colleges. Her work centers on writing pedagogy, writing across the curriculum, accessible course design, and thoughtful integration of emerging technologies in the classroom.

Bri earned her PhD in English with a concentration in Writing Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where her research explored how writers and multimedia content creators navigate visibility, authorship, and agency in digital spaces. Prior to her time at Illinois, she earned her MA in Composition with dual emphases in Literature and Applied Linguistics/Teaching English as a Second Language from California State University San Bernardino. Her recent work examines how both educators and students respond to the opportunities and challenges posed by proprietary writing and composing technologies, such as generative AI.
