Wondering how best to handle late work this semester? Check out this recent blog post by Michael Ekstrand, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, in which he explains his “Late Day” policy. While acknowledging that deadlines are a necessary aspect of effective course management, and help students learn, Ekstrand also recognizes that sometimes students have to make decisions about how to best manage their competing priorities. He developed his late day policy in response to  those realities, as well as to support his overarching goal to create classes “that will meet a wide range of student needs, and empower students to do what they need to in order to succeed in both the class and their lives”.
