Communication and Media Department Expands Media Facilities

The Department of Communication and Media has expanded facilities in the Communication Building, increasing the digital lab capacity from 18 to 24 stations. The new media labs are located on the second floor, replacing the labs on the main floor.

“Previously, production students worked in a small computer lab with little space for video and audio operation,” says University Television Director Nathan Snyder. “There was not enough physical space for students to properly see and hear their projects.”

Dr. Todd Norton, Communication and Media Department Head, has been working with Media Arts production faculty to expand and improve the facilities since September 2019.

“It will be a much nicer facility,” Norton said. “We’ve optimized the department’s ability to give students the best quality education.”

Construction of the media facilities took place over the summer. In-person classes are now being held in the new labs.
