Thomas Farrell successfully completed his comprehensive exams including his dissertation proposal on detrital zircon provenance and maximum depositional age constraints on Cambrian strata of southwest Laurentia. Thomas is shown here ‘holding up’ the Great Unconformity in the Blacktail Canyon, which is defined by the Cambrian Tapeats Sandstone transgression across ~1.7 Ga crystalline basement rocks.
