Solution ICPMS

Our trace element analysis capabilities include a suite of analysis tools for interrogating aqueous and solid phase environmental samples. Specific capabilities include:

  • aqueous major, minor and trace metal analysis (ppt level) via quadrupole ICP-MS;
  • solid phase digestion (rocks, soils, materials) and analysis of minor and trace elements via quadrupole ICP-MS;
  • in situ investigation of solids using laser-based methods (LA-ICP-MS);
  • soil and other solid characterization of carbon and nitrogen content via Flash EA.

We are able to perform a suite of inorganic and organic decompositions and separations using acid digestion and ion chromatography, including normally refractory materials using high-pressure Parr vessel dissolution with nitric, hydrochloric, and hydrofluoric acids. All wet chemical methods are done in our Class 100 clean laboratory in Class 10 laminar flow hoods, assuring low levels of contamination and superior detection limits.
