Bruce Hill, a soon-to-be graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, was eager to take advantage of a trip to the American College of Sports Medicine, International Health and Fitness Summit in Dallas, TX.

The ACSM International Health and Fitness Summit is a place to explore the health fitness profession, gain insights from experts, earn continuing education credits, and learn to put the latest scientific findings into practice. Bruce found that to be true as he reflected on his fruitful experience. He was able to add to his “‘toolbox’ of knowledge” and formally added a certification that he can use to build a new recovery class at Jack City Fitness utilizing research-based tools and breathing techniques to improve myofascial release and rolling strategies.

“It is very easy to overlook the importance of certain assignments and modules [from Boise State classes], but after this conference, I realized there is a method to the madness. The professionals and keynote speakers at the ACSM Summit displayed how they blend psychology, physiology, and exercise programming into their craft every day.”

Bruce is grateful for the opportunity that TRIO STEM provided him, and we are honored to have been able to grant him the experience that has helped continue Bruce’s exploration into the career opportunities that exist for a kinesiology practitioner.
