Rural teachers can apply for up to $12k to cover education expenses

Idaho’s rural educators are now eligible to apply for up to $12,000 in funds to put toward student loans or educational expenses.

Last spring Governor Brad Little signed Senate bill 1290 into law to help support the recruitment and retention of rural educators in Idaho. Eligible teachers can receive up to $12k over 4 years if they remain in their current school/district:

  • Year one: $1500
  • Year two: $2500
  • Year three: $3500
  • Year four: $4500

Eligible expenses include: Student loan repayment, additional degrees, advanced degrees, career technical certifications, course fees, lab fees, required course expenses such as books, supplies or transcript fees.
