Board of Directors

The Boise State University Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of a vibrant group of community-minded individuals who believe in the importance of higher education and in the vital role of Boise State University. Directors understand that philanthropy is an essential means by which the University sustains and enriches academic life and its purpose. Directors demonstrate that understanding by personally giving to the Foundation, encouraging others to join them and by creating long-lasting relationships with the University. Directors serve as stewards of the University’s and Foundation’s missions and values.

Officers

  • Jim Martin

    Executive Chair

    Jim is a partner with Hawley Troxell. He was previously a partner with Moffatt Thomas for 25 years. Jim serves as the executive chair on the Boise State University Foundation board and is a founding member of the Idaho Pro Bono Commission and charter member of the Boise Centennial Rotary Club. He served as chair of the Fourth District Bar Commission and the Idaho State Bar Young Lawyers Section. He has also been involved with the Citizens’ Law Academy, Defense Research Institute, Family Advocates, Federal Bar Association, Idaho Volunteer Lawyers, Sacred Heart, the U.S. District Court Local Civil Rules committee and the Bronco Athletic Association/Alumni Association Biennial Auction committee.

    Jim has received several awards, including the 2007 CASA Lawyer of the Year Award, the 2014 Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year Litigation Award, and the 2014 Idaho Business Review Leaders in Law Partner Award. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Boise State University and a juris doctorate from University of Idaho.

    Bruce Mohr

    Vice Chair

    Bruce is co-founder and partner with Buffington Mohr McNeal. His previous employers include First Security Investment Management Inc. and West One Bank. In 2020, Bruce received the COBE Outstanding Alumni Award. He serves as vice chair on the Boise State University Foundation board and as a trustee for the Boise City Arts and History Foundation. Bruce was president of the Boise Contemporary Theater board and chair of the Boise City Arts Commission. He also served on the boards of the Boise State Honors College, Ballet Idaho, Boise Nationals Soccer Club, and Morrison Center Endowment Foundation. Bruce has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Boise State and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Oregon.

    Brandy Stemmler

    Immediate Past Chair

    Brandy is a Branch Manager at loanDepot. She was previously a senior loan officer and production manager for PrimeLending, and an ICU nurse at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Baylor University Medical Center and Duke University Health System.  Brandy is the immediate past chair of the Boise State University Foundation board. She served as chair of the boards for the Idaho Humane Society and Saint Alphonsus Foundation. She also served on the Idaho Shakespeare Festival board, Women’s and Children’s Alliance board, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl advisory council and the College of Health Sciences Friends of Nursing advisory board. Brandy was a scholarship champion for the Boise State Extraordinary Times, Extraordinary Opportunities scholarship campaign and served as co-chair for the 2011 Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology, psychology and nursing from Baylor University.

    Glen Walker

    Treasurer, Finance & Audit Committee Chair

    Glen is President of Glen E. Walker & Associates Inc. and financial advisor for Waddell and Reed Wealth

    Management. He previously worked for Wells Fargo Bank. In 2003, with a passion for the sport of lacrosse, he founded and owned Lacrosse Idaho. For fifteen years he actively partnered with the Idaho Lacrosse Association and helped grow and promote enthusiasm in the sport and sustain the local youth and high school lacrosse community.

    Rick Pedigo

    Secretary

    Rick Pedigo is president and CEO of Pedigo Products, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned business that manufactures medical devices and is based in Vancouver, Washington. A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration while working full time for the family business. Two of his three children graduated from Boise State University. Rick and his wife are avid Bronco fans as they follow and support Boise State athletic teams by attending games, fundraising events and donate medical products to the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences and Department of Athletics.

    Emily Baker

    Emily is President and Founder of Portman Square Group Communications. She was previously Managing Partner and a shareholder at Gallatin Public Affairs. She moved back to Idaho after a long career in Washington DC and New York. Baker served in the Bush Administration as a Deputy Director with the US Department of Commerce and a Regional Administrator for GSA and traveled extensively to handle international media for the White House under several administrations. Previously she worked at BGR Group, a leading lobbying and PR firm in DC, and former Idaho Governor Phil Batt.

    Emily also sits on the CSHQA corporate board and is active in the community, serving on the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho Board, and as an Honorary Commander for the 366th Fighter Wing at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Emily is also an adjunct professor in the Political Science department at Boise State University. Her husband Mike and their three boys live in Boise.

    Kenny is a retired district manager with United Parcel Service. His 33-year career began in Oakland, California, and took him all over the country before his retirement in Boise, where he began volunteering on the boards of directors at St. Luke’s Foundation, Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho, Treasure Valley YMCA, and Bishop Kelley Foundation. Bolton is an avid Bronco fan. In addition to serving on both the Bronco Athletic Association and Honors College Advisory Boards, he supports the students by attending men’s and women’s sporting events, and Honors College Last Lecture presentations. Bolton was a co-owner of the NBA D League team the Idaho Stampede and currently invests in several local businesses.

  • Allen Dykman

    Allen Dykman is president and co-founder of Dykman, Inc. His business interests also include Dykman Electrical, Inc. and Dykman Properties, LLC. He and his wife, Dixie Dykman, received the 2020 St. Luke’s Ralph J. Comstock Light of Philanthropy Award, were Boise State University Homecoming Grand Marshalls in 2006 and Bronco Athletic Association/Alumni Association Biennial Auction Honorees in 2011.

    This will be Dykman’s second time serving on the foundation board. He is a past executive chair of the board, as well as past president of the Boise State Alumni Association and Bronco Athletic Association, co-chair of the Destination Distinction Campaign steering committee, and a member of the President’s Advisory Board. He also serves on the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl executive committee.

    Dykman received an honorary doctoral degree in 2021 from Boise State, as well as the 2002 Silver Medallion Award, 2001 Distinguished Alumni Award, and 2000 Bronco Athletic Association Bronze Bronco Award. He was named the 2010 Idaho Business Leader of the year by the Delta Upsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi at Idaho State, and was selected as a 2020 Influential Leader by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

    Dykman has a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Boise State, where he also played on the football team.

  • Ted Epperly

    Dr. Epperly is the President and CEO of the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, a large Federally Qualified Teaching Health Center comprised of nine FQHC clinics, four ACGME family medicine residency programs, and five fellowships. He received an undergraduate degree in Biology and Anthropology from Utah State University in 1976. He Graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1980.  He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center, Fort Lewis, Washington in 1983. He completed a faculty development fellowship at the University of North Carolina in 1986 and achieved an additional CAQ in Geriatrics.  He retired in July 2001 as Colonel after serving 21 years in the United States Army.  He served as the past President and Board Chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) representing 135,000 family physicians across the country.  He is a past member of the ACGME Board of Directors that has responsibility of all residency and fellowship training for over 140,000 residents and fellows of all specialties in the United States.  He currently serves as the Co-Chairman of the Board for the Healthcare Transformation Council of Idaho that is in charge of helping transform healthcare for the State of Idaho. Dr. Epperly is an award-winning physician, teacher, leader, author, researcher, and mentor. His multiple award-winning  first book “Fractured: America’s Broken Health Care System and What Must Be Done to Heal It” provides excellent insight to the U.S healthcare system and can be found on Amazon.com.  His second book entitled Preparing for the “Next Pandemic: Lessons, Stories and Recommendations from Covid-19” has just been accepted for publication by the Johns Hopkins University Press and will be released in 2022.

  • Debbie.Flandro

    Debbie Flandro

    Debbie Flandro is a business management professional who retired from Hewlett Packard in 2005, following a 29-year career serving in various roles including Accounting, Production, and Supply Chain Management.  She graduated from Boise State with a BBA in Accounting and an MBA, in addition to an Executive MBA from Duke University.

    Debbie currently serves as Chair of the Gaming Board for Northern Quest Resort and Casino in Spokane, Washington.  She previously served on the Advisory Board for the College of Business and Economics, where she was served a term as President, and also was Chair of the Education Subcommittee.  Other community roles have included serving on the Board of the Treasure Valley YMCA and as a docent for the Idaho Anne Frank Center for Human Rights Memorial.  An Idaho native, Debbie lives in Boise with her husband Jerry.

    Randy Hales

    Randy previously served as president and CEO of Next Level Apparel, ZAGG, Mity Enterprises Inc. and Back to Basics Inc. His other business interests have included board and leadership positions with Broda Medical, Dal-Tile International, David Weekley Homes, Development Capital, First Scientific, Goal Zero, International Housewares Association, Norco, Provo Craft, Rogers  Group, and WiLife Inc.

    Randy serves as chair of the Campaign Committee on the Boise State University Foundation board. He received the 2018 CEO of the Year – Large Consumer Products Company Award from Utah Business Magazine, 2017 David Bishop Hope Through Wishes Award from Make-a-Wish Utah and the 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Erst & Young. He has a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Brigham Young University.

  • Korey Hall

    Korey is a former Boise State athlete with a degree in Construction Management. He went on to play in the NFL for five seasons with both the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints. Upon retiring from the NFL, he worked as a project manager for ESI Construction on multiple large commercial projects in Boise, including the Boise State Fine Arts Building. For the past three years, he has been the head of construction for BVA Development specializing in commercial, medical and large industrial projects.

    Korey is a former Boise State athlete with a degree in Construction Management. He went on to play in the NFL for five seasons with both the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints. Upon retiring from the NFL, he worked as a project manager for ESI Construction on multiple large commercial projects in Boise, including the Boise State Fine Arts Building. For the past three years, he has been the head of construction for BVA Development specializing in commercial, medical and large industrial projects.

  • Zack Higgins

    Zach Higgins

    Zach is a partner and CEO of Wright Brothers Construction. Higgins graduated from Boise State in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. In 2021, he received the Boise State Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award for his efforts in getting the university’s Construction Management Building efforts underway. He is the past president of the Idaho AGC, Idaho Wild Sheep Foundation, and Boise State’s Construction Management Advisory Council. Zach currently serves on the Boise State University Foundation Board, Boise State’s Construction Management Advisory Council, Idaho AGC Board of Directors, and the ethics committee for the Wild Sheep Foundation. 

    Zach is a partner and CEO of Wright Brothers Construction. Higgins graduated from Boise State in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. In 2021, he received the Boise State Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award for his efforts in getting the university’s Construction Management Building efforts underway. He is the past president of the Idaho AGC, Idaho Wild Sheep Foundation, and Boise State’s Construction Management Advisory Council.   • Darren Kyle

    Darren is a 2nd generation Owner/Operator and franchisee of McDonald’s Restaurants since returning to his hometown of Twin Falls, Idaho in 2003. He had had ketchup in his veins from a very young age after moving to Idaho as a toddler when his father first became a McDonald’s franchisee over 50 years ago and later working in the restaurants beginning at age 11. Darren currently operates 12 restaurant locations in South Central Idaho stretching from Mountain Home to Burley and Twin Falls to Hailey and is responsible for overseeing business strategic planning and people initiatives, community building activities and partnerships, as well as the operations execution to the 11,000 customers that visit his restaurants every day. He does this alongside his father, brother, and over 600 dedicated supervisors, managers, crew, and support staff. 

    Darren received his BBA in Accounting from Boise State University in 1992 and his license as Certified Public Accountant in 1993.  Prior to returning to McDonald’s, Darren spent 11 years in public accounting practice as a Senior Tax Manager in the Boise office of Deloitte.

    In addition to the Boise State University Foundation, Darren currently sits on the board of directors for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Magic Valley, and the BSU College of Business and Economics Advisory Council. He is also a past board member of the BSU Alumni Association, the Idaho Society of CPAs and numerous other charitable organizations.  

    Outside of work, Darren enjoys spending time with his sons as well as a host of other activities like golf, skiing, swimming, scuba diving, travel and of course attending numerous BSU sporting and cultural events!

  • Cheryl Larabee

    Cheryl Larabee

    Cheryl is lecturer emerita in the College of Business and Economics at Boise State University. She previously served as the associate vice president for University Advancement at Boise State following a 24-year career in corporate banking. Cheryl was honored to be involved in building the new Micron building and then teaching the incoming business freshmen in the new Skagg’s Hall of Learning.  She is committed to higher education and looks forward to serving on the BSUF board and engaging with the community on behalf of Boise State.

    Cheryl currently serves on the boards of Norco Inc. and the National Association for Corporate Directors. She is the previous board chair of ZAGG Inc., Capital City Development Corporation, Arid Club, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Downtown Boise Association and Hays Shelter Home.     Cheryl is lecturer emerita in the College of Business and Economics at Boise State University. She previously served as the associate vice president for University Advancement at Boise State following a 24-year career in corporate banking. Cheryl was honored to be involved in building the new Micron building and then teaching the incoming business freshmen in the new Skagg’s Hall of Learning.  She is committed to higher education and looks forward to serving on the BSUF board and engaging with the community on behalf of Boise State.

    Tracy Andrus is a longtime member of the Boise-area business and civic communities with over 40 years of experience in senior management, business development, and strategic planning. She serves as President and Chairman of the Andrus Center for Public Policy at Boise State’s School of Public Service. In that role, Tracy directs the Center’s environment, public lands, education, student scholarship, and leadership initiatives.

    Tracy has an extensive background in health insurance, serving as Sr. Vice President of Marketing & Provider Services for Blue Cross of Idaho and as a member of the Executive Committee of the company’s board of directors prior to that. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Moda Health, serving the states of Oregon, Washington, and Alaska.

    Bob is senior vice president of wealth management for UBS Financial Services Inc. He previously worked for Dean Witter Reynolds, Merrill Lynch and Piper Jaffray/UBS. Bob serves as president for the Bronco Athletic Association board and is a member of the Arid Club board. He is an alumnus of Boise State University.

    Roger spent ten years in education, his last two years as a high school principal.  When he left education, he moved to Boise and began a 35-year career in commercial real estate sales and development. Roger is retired founder of Michener Investments LLP, a full service commercial real estate brokerage. His son, Hoyt now runs the daily operations.

    His years at Boise Junior College were memorable for two reasons.  First, he played quarterback for the great football coach Lyle Smith, and second it is where he met his wife of 58 years, Barbara Gaver Michener.  Barbara graduated from Boise State University in 1991.

    Roger is an emeriti director of the Boise State University Foundation board, serving on the real estate

    committee. He served on the boards for the Boise State Alumni Association, College of Western Idaho and Idaho State University Foundation. He was awarded the 2007 Silver Medallion Award. Roger attended Boise Junior College, has a bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University and a master’s degree in education from University of Idaho.

Paul served on the boards of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce (chairman), Boise State Bronco Athletic Association (president), Boise State Foundation, Intermountain Industries Inc., Boise State president’s advisory board, Idaho Petroleum Council (vice president), and the Idaho Public Charter School Commission. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University.
