Honoring the Memory and Legacy of Mr. Sal Celeski

Sal Celeski was a pioneering Idaho newsman who served as KTVB-TV Channel 7’s longtime news director. Celeski built the news department into a successful station by adding modern processes and developing exceptional talent. Mr. Celeski was highly respected, demonstrated impeccable ethics, and was known as a tough and demanding editor who respected sources and wanted to ensure he got the story right. An Air Force veteran, Celeski was a professional photographer when he joined KTVB-TV and continued that work until he became News Director in the early 1970s.

Mr. Celeski also enjoyed a long career as a political consultant and was involved in numerous major Idaho campaigns of both parties after he left the station in the 1980s. Celeski also was at the center of a group of longtime political movers and shakers that met regularly for coffee for many years and continue to do so. It is this group’s members, along with family, friends, and colleagues, who established this scholarship to impact students and provide a lasting legacy of Celeski’s many contributions.
