Research Profile:

Dr. Gallegos’ completed research includes “Exploration of the Effects of Playing Wii on Children’s Well-being and Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) During Hospitalization”, “Registered Nurses’ Self-Efficacy in Caring for Pediatric Patients in an Adult Based Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)”, and “An Exploration of Nurses’ Professional Values at a Large Freestanding Pediatric Hospital”. Her dissertation, “An Examination of Parental Stressors and Coping in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)” examined parental stressors and coping strategies using the PSS:PICU and CHIP.

Additional Information:

Dr. Gallegos’ areas of interest & scholarship include parental stress and coping of critically and chronically ill infants and children, evidence-based practice for hospitalized children and families, and quality improvement. Gallegos received her PhD from University of New Mexico, and holds an MSN- Advanced practice in Pediatrics specializing in Pediatric Cardiology, and a BScN from the University of Alberta in Canada.
