I focus on the application of social science theory to natural resource issues. I seek to understand public perceptions of landscapes and wildlife to inform management decisions. I employ mixed methods and a range of theories to understand these variations.

Current Research and Interests
Sagebrush steppe is an iconic and widespread landscape of the American West. As threats build from land use change, invasive species, wildfire, and climate change, understanding the barriers and opportunities for its management is of the utmost importance. However, complexity stems from divergent public opinions that range from sagebrush steppe being valued ecologically, culturally, and economically to it being viewed as wasteland with little value. My research seeks to improve our understanding of the “social landscape” of the sagebrush steppe, through the lenses of landscape values and sense of place.
