REU Student Publishes in Journal of Raptor Research

We are happy to announce a new publication from the work of our 2015 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) student, Kenny.

Student researcher Kenny (left) and forest wildlife biologist Scott banding a goshawk nestling, Sublett Mountains, Idaho, 2015.

The article, “Unusual Northern Goshawk Mtdna Haplotype Found in the Rocky Mountains” appears this month in the Journal of Raptor Research.

Genetic samples from our Northern Goshawk research allow us to investigate mitochondrial DNA in our study population. Research like this is important for understanding movement into and out of isolated populations such as the one in the South Hills.
