What is Exercise Is Medicine On Campus?

Most people are aware that exercise is good for their health. It is so critical to health and well-being that it can be considered a form of medicine.

To promote physical activity among students, faculty and staff, Boise State recently joined Exercise is Medicine® On Campus, a nationwide program sponsored by the American College of Sports Medicine.

Exercise is Medicine® On Campus brings exercise, health and other disciplines together to celebrate the importance of physical activity relative to individual and campus health and well-being. The ultimate goal is to increase awareness about physical activity opportunities in the community and to use physical activity for chronic disease prevention and management.

The program aims to make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care, connecting health care with evidence-based physical activity resources for people everywhere and of all abilities. The university setting is a microcosm of society that can help to educate and inspire students, faculty and staff to work together to promote physical activity on campus and within healthcare settings.

Boise State’s Exercise is Medicine® On Campus leadership team consists of students, faculty and staff from the School of Kinesiology, Campus Recreation, Wellness Services, Athletics and the College of Health Sciences Dean’s Office.
