Albertsons Library has named Yitzhak “Yitzy” Paul as the unit head of emerging technologies and experiential learning. This department has overall responsibility for the instruction and management of the the learning space known as the MakerLab. Paul was hired in 2020 as an assistant professor/instruction librarian, and had been serving as interim head since fall of 2021.

“Yitzy is a thought leader in maker spaces and technology. He brings energy and enthusiasm for collaboration not just with students and staff, but with other disciplines on campus and throughout the greater community,” says Dean Tod Colegrove from the library.

Paul received his Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and Media Studies from the University of Maryland, where he also earned a Master of Library and Information Science. Prior to joining Boise State, Paul spent nearly 11 years at the University of Maryland Libraries. There, he created an “emerging technologies sandbox,” providing a loan program and public space to try new and emerging technologies.

Boise State’s MakerLab at Albertsons Library is a welcoming environment for all members of the campus community to get creative, learn about emerging technologies, and advance their visions through experimentation, invention, hacking, sharing and making for social good.
