Speech, Debate and Journalism programs created

1940’s

  • Amateur radio created
  • Humanities Division creates Speech and Journalism programs

1950’s

Formalized curriculum in public speaking, speech arts, forensics, broadcast.

1960’s

  • Vocational/technical school offers human relations class.
  • Theatre parts department offers a speech communication degree
  • KBSU becomes “voice of the Broncos”

1970’s

  • Department Communication Arts joins the School of Arts and Sciences
  • KAID Television Studios established at the Library Learning Center

1980’s

Department moves to Communication Building

1990’s

Created Masters in Communication

2000’s

  • Created Organizational emphasis
  • Created Public Relations emphasis and certificate
  • Created Digital Media certificate

2010’s

  • Renamed Department Communication and Media
  • Created Studio360 as multi camera production studio
