Academic & Career Advisors
Advising 101
Why See an Advisor
Advisors help you with course scheduling, degree planning, managing graduation requirements, study abroad, internships, academic adjustments, and locating campus and community resources.
- Academic advisors help you with semester-by-semester class enrollment planning.
- Career advisors help you navigate major changes and life direction.
When to See an Advisor
You should see an advisor before you begin a degree program and check-in at least once a year. Try to schedule outside of peak enrollment times (immediately prior to and during registration periods).
Advisors can help when you have questions with your Advising and Academic Progress Report (AAR).
If your degree plans or circumstances change, an advisor can help you.
Where to See an Advisor
Department advisors are typically available for meetings on campus, in the Communication Building. Students who have face-to-face appointments should go to the main office for the Department of Media. Students who are not able to make face-to-face appointments may be able to arrange virtual meetings.
