How do I become a Bronco Nurse?

On-Campus Pre-License Track

Pre-Nursing

Before you can apply to the School of Nursing, you must complete pre-nursing coursework. Not sure what that looks like? Talk to an advisor!

Pre-License Program

After pre-nursing courses comes the Pre-License program. This option is known for:

  • In-person learning for 5 semesters
  • A structured cohort model
  • Clinical opportunities in the community and the Simulation Center

Online RN-BS Completion Track

What is RN-BS?

This is a more personalized track, designed so the working registered nurses (RNs) can earn their bachelor’s degree. Not an RN yet? No problem. This track is also for individuals who are studying to become one through an associate degree program.

This option is known for:

  • 100% online coursework
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Dual enrollment option

How does it work?

If you’re an RN, apply to the RN-BS program! If not, find yourself an associate’s program (ADN or ASN). These are often shorter programs offered at smaller schools, so you may save money!

I wasn't accepted into the Pre-License Program, what are my options?

There is still a pathway to become a Bronco Nurse!

The Pre-License bachelor’s program is extremely competitive. But not getting into the program doesn’t mean you can’t study at Boise State!

Students not admitted to the Pre-License program may complete their ADN or ASN at another school and have the option to dual enroll in Boise State’s RN-BS program.
