Dr. Chyung has been working with multiple research teams to conduct systematic literature reviews on best practices in survey instrument design.

Her research teams have reviewed over 100 research articles, synthesizing the research findings and producing the following published articles, to promote evidence-based practices among performance improvement professionals.

• Use of a midpoint on the Likert scale
• Use of ascending or descending order of Likert-type response options
• Adding Moderately or Somewhat to Agree and Disagree of the Likert scale options
• Use of negatively-worded items in surveys
• Use of continuous rating scales
• Ceiling effects associated with response scales
