First-year Students

STEP 1: Submit your Intent to Enroll

Before you can sign up for advising, registration, and orientation, make sure you’ve submitted your intent to enroll to reserve your spot in the Fall 2025 class.

STEP 3: Complete Pre-Orientation & Advising To-Do's

Before your academic advising appointment and New Student Orientation, be sure to complete a few important action items to ensure you’re fully prepared.

STEP 4: Attend New Student Orientation

Students can choose to attend New Student Orientation in person, where they’ll receive academic advising, register for classes, and participate in community-building activities.

Alternatively, students can complete advising and registration online, then join us on campus for a special in-person Orientation session on August 16, focused on building community, connecting with peers, and exploring campus resources.

Specialty Group Dates

Honors

Students accepted into the Honors program can attend additional programming at an Honors focused program. While these orientations have an additional session, Honors staff will be at every Orientation program.

*Honors Program Dates:

June 23 – 24 (Monday – Tuesday)
June 26 – 27 (Thursday – Friday)

*These programs are not only meant for Honors students.

Spanish Translation

We know some families and guests are Spanish speaking. We are pleased to offer English to Spanish translation during two programs for anyone who would like a translation device or to speak to bilingual Orientation Leaders.

Translated Programs:

July 18 – 19 (Friday – Saturday)

Veteran Dependents

G.I. Bill Education benefits can take as long as eight weeks to process. If you are a dependent of a Veteran using G.I. Bill benefits, it’s ideal that you attend an Orientation in June so that you can register for classes as early as possible.

*Veteran Dependent Dates:

June 16-17 (Monday – Tuesday)
June 23-24 (Monday – Tuesday)
June 30-July 1 (Monday – Tuesday)
July 14-15 (Monday – Tuesday)

*If any of these programs are full or don’t work with your summer schedule, contact our office.

Costs

The basic cost of your Orientation is covered by the New Student Curriculum fee. You’ll see this charge on your fall tuition and fees statement. An overnight stay and rafting trip are program additions for students with costs listed below. Family and guests are also an additional fee. If you need a fee waiver, please reach out to our office.

*Student Overnight Stay:

$50 per student for one night in the Residence Hall
We highly encourage you to stay overnight on campus for your orientation!
If you did not sign-up to stay overnight upon signing up for orientation, please call our office to add it.

*Overnight payments are non-refundable on the day of your program.

*Whitewater Rafting ($55)

The rafting trip will take place after class registration on day 2.
Please plan to be on the trip until late in the evening.
Space is limited. If the trip is full, please contact us to join the waitlist.

*Outdoor outing payments are non-refundable on the day of your program.

*Family and Guest:

$75 per family member or guest

Students can bring up to two guests to their orientation program.
If you would like to bring a third guest, please call our office.

Families and guests will have their own sessions for both days of orientation. Some sessions will take place together.

*Payments for family and guests are non-refundable on the day of your program.

What if the link to sign-up is not working properly/isn’t loading?

Try using a different browser or incognito window. Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are best.

When can I sign-up for Orientation if I just paid my intent to enroll?

You should receive an email to sign-up 24 hours after paying your intent to enroll. Continue to check your personal and Boise State email.

What if I can’t make any of these program dates due to special circumstances?

What if I need to reschedule?

Log into your orientation and advising portal to reschedule or call our office at (208) 426-1156.

Why is the guest fee $75?

Student orientation is funded by student fees paid through tuition. The family and guest fee allows us to cover family orientation costs from food to space to staffing, similar to a conference.

- 5:00pm – 7:00pm – Dinner (Students Only)
- 6:00pm – 10:00pm – Evening Activities

You’ll find Boise State University between Broadway Avenue and Capital Boulevard, just a short distance from Interstate 84 and less than 4 miles from the Boise Airport. Check-in will be in the Recreation Center while a majority of the Orientation program is held in the Student Union Building.

What does an overnight stay include?

One night in a residence hall to experience staying on campus.

What should I bring to stay overnight?

Sleepwear and change of clothing for day 2.
Appropriate athletic attire for the recreation center.
Pillow and sleeping bag or twin-sized linens and comforter.
Towel and toiletries.
Hair tools (if needed).
Shower shoes/flip flops.
