HCRI Advisory Board Members Presenting to the UF100 Natural Hazards Class

Boise State University students had the privilege of learning from members of the Hazard and Climate Resilience Institute (HCRI) advisory board for insightful discussions on natural disasters and emergency management.

On Feb. 27, Jay Breidenbach, a meteorologist from the NOAA NWS Boise Office, discussed extreme weather, climate change, and the role of the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Weather Ready Nation initiative.

Brandon Hobbs, a civil engineer from HDR, provided insights into flooding, including along the Boise River.

On Mar. 12, Crash Marusich, the Deputy Director for Ada County Office of Emergency Management and Community Resilience, shared expertise on emergency management and hazard risk ratings. 

Ben Wells, Boise State’s emergency manager, discussed the university’s preparedness for hazard events.

These presentations enriched the academic experience of Boise State students, offering valuable insights into natural hazards and emergency management to prepare them for future challenges.
