By the end of this Phase you will be able to:

1. Summarize the program’s mission- What is a Higher Educational Connector?
2. Compare the different types of opportunities available throughout Idaho and support available to rural communities
3. Interpret the different policies related to admissions criteria and financial aid available
4. Employ the previously mentioned skills: Engage with the community and have meaningful conversations about higher education

Through this phase of training, we will provide you with extensive information current and common issues facing rural students, including community members who may be older and returning to college after a period of time; and provide information and resources for your local community.

In this phase of the training we will cover the following:

• Identify financial resources (i.e. scholarships and financial aid) available to students from all walks of life
• Analyze the academic support systems available to all students
• Discuss some common barriers that keep students from enrolling and completing a degree or certificate
• Identify general non-academic support available for students
