The School of Social Work will offer training to Field Instructors on August 22 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Two CEU’s will be offered for attending the training. This training is required for all new Field Instructors and will provide you with information that will help you as you begin working with social work students from the Boise State School of Social Work. We will cover topic areas including, but not limited to, the current status of the BSW and MSW programs, competency based learning agreements, evaluation of student learning, working with different learning styles, supervision, how to use the Intern Placement Tracking (IPT) system, as well as take time to answer any questions you may have about the requirements for students, faculty, field liaisons and field instructors. This field training is aimed at Field Instructors who are new to working with students or new to working with Boise State students. It can also be used as a refresher for more experienced Field Instructors that have not had a student in the past couple years. Our goal is to offer more advanced Field Instructor training as the year progresses to address more specific issues that arise in the field setting.

The School of Social Work looks forward to joining with you as we advance student learning through field within your agency settings. The role you provide to student’s learning is crucial to student’s having a positive learning experience. The designation of field education as the “signature pedagogy” for social work education as outlined by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) only supports the valuable and important contribution you bring to this aspect of learning for students seeking their BSW and MSW degrees.

I look forward to meeting each one of you and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to the Boise State School of Social Work field program. Thank-you all for the work you do with our students and in the profession of social work.
