Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate

Are you looking to enhance your skills and stand out to potential employers? Our new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate can help you do just that. In an increasingly diverse and interconnected world, employers are looking for candidates who understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in society.

Our certificate program will give you the knowledge, skills, and tools to create more inclusive and equitable workplaces, to navigate cross-cultural communication, and to build diverse and effective teams. You’ll learn about the latest research and best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion and gain hands-on experience through projects and internships. “Fill out the form to express your interest or ask questions.” 

By completing our certificate program, you’ll not only be prepared to make a positive impact in your future workplace, but you’ll also demonstrate your commitment to social justice and equity. Employers value candidates who have a deep understanding of these issues and who are equipped to lead positive change.

Program Requirements

  • Complete all of the following
    • Take at least 1 of the following:
      • SOC230/ETHNIC230 – Introduction to Ethnic Studies (FS) (3)
      • SOC105 – Racism and Antiracism (FS) (3)
      • SOC102 – Social Problems (FS) (3)
    • Take at least 1 of the following:
      • SOC305 – Racial and Cultural Minorities (3)
      • SOC306/ETHNIC306 – Sociology of African Americans (3)
      • SOC307/ETHNIC307 – The Asian American Social Experience (3)
      • SOC332/ETHNIC332 – Introduction to Mexican-American Studies (3)
      • SOC333/ETHNIC333 – Contemporary Chicanx Issues (3)
      • GENDER301 – Feminist Theory (3) Part of Gender Studies Minor
      • GENDER371 – Social Psychology of Gender (3) Part of Gender Studies Minor
    • Take at least 1 of the following:
      • SOC450 – Race and Intersectionality (3)
      • SOC471 – Feminist Theory (3)
      • SOC421 – Social Inequality (3)
    • Take between 1 and 3 credits from the following:
      • SOC479 – Undergraduate Research Experience (0 – 3)
      • SOC493 – Internship (1 – 12)
      • SOC496 – Independent Study (1 – 4)
    • Some courses may have prerequisites beyond what is listed to earn the certificate.
    • Only one of the following can be used toward the certificate: GENDER301 or SOC471
