The Family Caregiver Navigator is a pilot project of the Idaho Caregiver Alliance, that provides free and remote resource referral services to family caregivers across the lifespan and state of Idaho.

About Fit and Fall Proof

Researchers and students conduct statewide evaluation activities for the Idaho Fit and Fall Proof (FFP) program housed in the Idaho Physical Activity and Nutrition Program, Division of Public Health at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

About Relatives as Parents

Relatives as Parents (RAPs) are individuals – grandparents and other family members – who are raising a relative’s child. There are more than 10,000 of these care providers in Idaho, and the RAP arrangement can be challenging from a legal, financial, and social standpoint.

About Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia

Dementia is not a specific disease, but rather a name for a group of symptoms caused by damage to nerve cells in the brain. Symptoms associated with dementia include a decline in memory or thinking skills, personality changes, and the inability to perform everyday activities (Idaho Health & Welfare, 2014). Alzheimer’s disease is a specific type of dementia, and there are 5.8 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s in 2019. Across the nation, Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death, and 1 in 3 seniors die with Alzheimer’s or another dementia (Alzheimer’s Association, 2019).
