Traditional Masters

The traditional MA course sequence will require two years to complete for the full-time student taking two or three courses each semester. These seminars will be held once a week in the late afternoons or evenings so that working professionals may attend more easily. This track culminates in an applied research project consistent with students’ career interests- for example, the analysis of a specific policy in the government agency where the student works. This track features training for Ph.D. programs with a central focus on the professional application of graduate training in Political Science.

Minimum Requirements:

• Apply online to the Graduate College.
• Three Letters of Recommendation are required for all applicants. Professional supervisors, as well as one’s professors, may write letters in support of traditional MA program applicants.
• Statement of purpose with a discussion of how the student’s personal and professional goals are enhanced by the enrollment in the MA program.
• A ten-page writing sample that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to sustain an argument and present evidence to support claims.
