Spring has sprung, Broncos. And even though we might have some randomly super cold days here and there, it’s actually starting to warm up! After being cooped up for like five whole wintery months, we’re all itching to get outside. So, we’ve gathered up some awesome stuff that’s happening this spring to get you outdoors.

1) Treefort (duh)

Treefort is finally here! March 23-27 there will be all kinds of music, food, comedy, tech, film, stories, socializing, and more to be had via the plethora of “Forts” Treefort has to offer. Check out the Treefort website for info about all the events they have to offer.

2) First Thursday

The city of Boise has collaborated with tons of shops, food joints, and music vendors to offer special deals and events on the first Thursday of every month. Every month there’s a whole list of fun stuff going on that you can get in on, while saving money. It’s a win-win.

3) Capital City Public Market

Starting April 16, you can go down to the Boise Center on Grove street and hang out with local makers of all types. There’s local art, handcrafted goods, produce, and snacks — just to list a few. 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. every Saturday until December. The market accepts SNAP benefits and offers a dollar matching program called Fresh Funds when you use your SNAP card. All the more reason to buy local.

4) In Bloom: A Reading Series

Story Forward is working with the Idaho Botanical Garden to put on their third season of “In Bloom” throughout the spring and summer. Starting April 11, you can come see fiction writers, poets, playwrights, creative nonfiction writers, and podcasters live on stage at IBG Meditation Garden. It’s a beautiful spot for a picnic while you listen to your favorite local artists.

5) Paint and Sips

Zoo Boise is putting on a paint and sip this Thursday, March 24 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. These events feature a local instructor and include drinks, appetizers, and all supplies. If you need a fresh idea for a date night or a fun night out with friends this just might be the thing for you.

5 ½) Food Trucks

What’s better than good weather and great food? Nothing, really. Follow @boisestdining on Instagram to find out when local food trucks will be stopping by campus. If you’re open to a little bit of travel, you can also stop by Green Acres Food Truck Park starting April 22 8:00 a.m. – 8:00p.m. right by Ann Morrison park and the greenbelt.
