One week of the fall semester is down. Way to go! There are so many things to think about during the first weeks of school, so we wanted to simplify a few tasks. Here are some things to keep in mind while it’s still early in the semester. Take action and you’ll be off to a great start.

1)  Solidify your schedule

After the first week of classes, review your schedule to make sure you’re happy with it. A lot of students change their classes within the first week of the semester. Log in to myBoiseState and look at the student view to see your schedule. Check out the myBoiseState help page if you have trouble finding anything. If you’re used to using myBoiseState, you’ll notice that the site got a makeover, so take some time navigating it.

2)  Buy your textbooks

Once you know what materials you need for class, don’t wait to buy them! You can buy textbooks and course materials by printing off your class schedule and bringing it to the Bronco Shop inside the Student Union Building.

3)  Know the deadlines

Take a look at important dates and deadlines and add them to your calendar. You can check out the academic calendar for other important dates to remember throughout the year.

4)  Keep yourself organized

Take some time to figure out what organization system works best for you. Keeping track of your classes in your Google Calendar or tracking your progress on assignments in a spreadsheet are a couple of great tools to use. We’ve also put together 5 ½ Tips to Feel Prepared so you can feel confident at your new classes.

5)  Check Canvas regularly

Canvas is your best friend when classes are in session. The best way to stay on top of your schoolwork is to log in to Canvas daily. Get the app on your phone and turn on push notifications to stay up-to-date on grades, announcements, assignments and class changes.

5 ½) Show up to classes!
