5 ½ Things Broncos Have On Their Outdoor Playlists

The Boise Foothills

If you’re anything like me, my taste in music is very seasonal. During winter, I get really into melancholy indie-rock with maybe some hip-hop at the gym, unlike summertime where it’s all about country music and 2000s pop anthems. And as our fellow Broncos embark on their outdoor adventures this summer, we asked you on our Instagram page what type of music you’ve been listening to lately. We even added new playlists on our Spotify based on the things Broncos have on their outdoor summertime playlists!

1) Floating the River

The Boise River

Break out that waterproof speaker and crank up some of these tunes if you and your friends want to get the party and good vibes started as you’re floating through our city. Broncos responded that they’re going to be listening to “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band, “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, and “Do You Remember” by Death Cab for Cutie & Chance the Rapper!

2) Biking Around Town

Who doesn’t love biking around Boise with their earbuds in? In my opinion, nothing is more main character-like than biking around Boise at sunrise or sunset. When you see other students pedaling around, expect them to be listening to “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, lots of Morgan Wallen, and “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift.

3) Hiking the Foothills

When you’re going for your hike (or power walk) sometimes you need that last little push to get you over the hill. Students added lots of their favorite workout hits like (I’m sure you saw this first one coming courtesy of Stranger Things!) “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, “Finish Line” by Skillet, and “Laugh Now, Cry Later” by Drake to their hiking the foothills playlists.

4) Hammocking in the Park

If you’re looking to drift off to sleep in the afternoon breeze, hits such as “Upside Down” by Jack Johnson, “Pluto Projector” by Rex Orange County, and anything from The Lumineers’ catalogue may bring you some of that summertime serenity you’re looking for.

5) Driving Around with the Windows Down

Sometimes you and your friends are driving around at sunset and then that song comes on and, before you know it, everyone’s singing their hearts out. Your fellow Broncos noted songs like “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus, “Paper Rings” by Taylor Swift, “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson, and “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles helped give them that rush!

The people who write these 5 ½ Things, and LOTS of other great articles, also have some favorite summertime songs. Some songs we’re jamming to include: “Summertime Magic” by Childish Gambino, “Viva Las Vengeance” by Panic! At The Disco, “Like Whoa” by Aly and A, “I Wanna Dance” by Whitney Houston, and “You Proof” by Morgan Wallen.
