Club Sports

Club sports are a great way to find a large friend group to interact with multiple times a week through practices and social gatherings. Everyone is welcome to join a sport, and there are no tryouts. With your team, you’ll be able to travel in and out of state to participate in tournaments. Club sports do require that you pay dues, and each team costs different amounts. However, none of the teams are committal, meaning you can drop by some practices to see if you like it, and if not, it’s not a problem. You can try out a few different sports and see which fits your interest and schedule best. Check the Club Sports website for a list of the different clubs, as well as their current practice times/locations.

Clubs are a great way to find a community of people with like-minded interests and passions. There are so many different clubs, so it is easy to find something for everyone. Clubs can also look great on a resume, can help give you a social network, and can lead to fun opportunities and activities. It is a perfect way to meet new friends across campus. Check the Organizations website for all the club opportunities and find a few that fit your personality or try something completely new.

Rec Center

Besides being a gym, the Rec Center offers many cool activities and programs:

  • Intramural Sports: Intramural sports are short, amateur tournaments for a variety of popular sports and are super affordable. The sports are best enjoyed by signing up with a group of friends, but you can also join a team and meet people! Check the Intramural Sports website for the current schedule and ways to signup!
  • Outdoor Program: The rec center has an outdoor program that offers several trips a month. Many of these are day trips like going to hot springs, rock climbing, hiking, snow-shoeing, white water rafting, snowboarding/ski lessons, and many more. Most of the day trips are between $15-60, but they also offer overnight/multi-day trips that are mostly backpacking, which cost more but are a lot more fun! All of the equipment is provided by the Rec Center, so you don’t have to worry about rentals or purchasing equipment. Check the Outdoor Program website for the schedule.
  • Broncofit: When you sign up for classes, consider taking one or two Broncofit classes. These are one-credit classes that focus on fitness. Many of these classes are sports like Ultimate, rock climbing, fencing, golf, etc. Depending on the semester, they also have weightlifting, yoga, bicycle maintenance, and others! These classes are super chill, pass/fail classes that are mostly just an excuse to be active or learn something useful. Look up “Broncofit” when you are enrolling for classes.
