1988-1997
Amnesty International worked to support the release of men, women, and children imprisoned for their beliefs, color, sex, ethnic origin, language, or religion, provided that those imprisoned had neither used nor advocated violence. They emphasized fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners and to end torture and executions in all cases.
