Carillon Bell Tower and Songs

Black and white photo of brick tower containing Boise State's carillon bells

In March 1972, Boise State updated its carillon with a computer that transmitted songs from the Music Building to the Administration Building, which were then played through eight speakers. The songs played composed by Sati, Bartok, and McDowell. The hourly song played was Westminster Melody. Schulmerich Electronics, Inc. constructed the electronic carillon. Velma Morrison, widow of Harry Morrison, donated funds in his honor. The Dedication Concert took place on January 20, 1973. The carillon was rededicated in 2007 after going years without use.
