Rising Star

Red sculpture in the shape of a star with orange and blue shapes balancing on top of it.

Built in 2004 and donated to Boise State in 2006, Rising Star is a welded metal sculpture by Robert Kantor, a Ketchum native.

Robert Kantor’s Rising Star serves to symbolize the University as a “rising star” in the academic world. Kantor specialized in compelling mobiles and stabiles painted with bright, primary colors to reflect his own positive outlook on life. The work weighs 3,000 lbs. Unfortunately, the sculpture’s colors are currently beginning to fade from constant exposure to the sun in its location outside of Boise State’s Rec Center.
