The academic calendar takes a little getting used to. Planning starts early to recruit the next semester’s students. This timeline will help you stay ahead of due dates. Work U opportunities are typically 13 weeks.
Students spend 10 hours per week on site and 75 minutes each week in the classroom.
Timeline for Spring 2026 Work U Internships
- January 12, 2026: Students begin Work U course this week
- January 19, 2026: Students begin internship with organization this week!
- March 16-20, 2026: No internship during spring break
- April 20, 2026: Estimated last week of internship
- April 20, 2026: (time TBD) Hold for Work U Student Showcase & Fall mentor orientation
Timeline for Fall 2026 Work U Internships
- February 20, 2026: Deadline for organizations to submit a Work U opportunity to the Work U program (How to post your opportunity)
- February 24, 2026: Student applications open.
- March / April: Students apply to Work U & organizations are notified of their intern match for approval
- April 20, 2026 at 9:15am: In-person Mentor Orientation on campus
- August 25, 2026: Students begin Work U course
- September 1, 2026: Students begin internship at their organization!
- November 24 – 30, 2026: No internship during fall break / Thanksgiving week
- December 12, 2026: Estimated last week of internship
