The Work U program is a unique internship experience at Boise State University. Work U opportunities are open to all majors and students are matched with your opportunity by Career Services. Work U students are available to intern 10 hours a week over 13 weeks for a total of 130 working hours. While working with your organization, they also enroll in a three-credit professional development class that meets weekly.
The workforce of the future needs you. And you need them.
As a Treasure Valley employer, you can be part of the Work U experience. Help our students – and your future employees – on their career path with opportunities to build experience, skills and a professional network.
What is Work U?
Work U is a new twist on an old idea — giving students hands-on work experience before they graduate. Why is Work U different?
- Students spend time on site with employers AND in a weekly class session where they unpack what they learn on the job.
- Students attend interactive workshops, engage with dynamic guest leaders from partner employers, and learn skills that translate directly to a professional setting.
- Students gain professional experiences, regardless of their major.
What You’ll Gain
A centralized Boise State support team
The Work U team provides a structured, consistent program for bringing Boise State students into your organization and expanding your talent pool. We do most of the legwork – recruiting, vetting, placement, and classroom training on basic professional skills and work ethic.
Dynamic students from diverse disciplines
Students from diverse majors provide fresh insight into your organization’s challenges. Our partners are continually impressed by the enthusiasm and eagerness to learn that our students bring to their work.
Increased brand awareness
When you share your expertise with the next generation, you also benefit from increased awareness of your organization on campus when it comes time to hire new talent.
Internal leadership opportunities for your team
Your current employees will learn and develop leadership skills by becoming mentors and directing students through specific projects.
