We held our annual Wizard Hat Ceremony on April 28, 2023. It was an afternoon filled with honoring the accomplishments of 63 different students. Over 80 certificates were given out, including recognizing Departmental Scholarship recipients, Summer Research Fellows, Analyst Certifications, and our graduating Seniors.
We gave out Excellence awards, showcasing the students with the best performance in both Lab and Lecture portions of each class. Our winners of those awards, receiving a certificate and a Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry jacket, were:

Danielle Ali–Excellence in Inorganic Chemistry
Jocelyn Stephens–Excellence in Physical Chemistry
Sara Alsaifi–Excellence in Organic Chemistry
Gabe Miles–Excellence in Biochemistry
Alyssa Hendricks–Excellence in Analytical Chemistry
AJ Santana Cabrera–Excellence in Advanced Analytical Chemistry
We celebrated the graduation of 23 Chemistry Majors in 2023! All of these young men and women have continually made us proud. They’ve shown amazing dedication to their academics, research, and service to the Department and the University. It was an extremely difficult decision to name just one of them as our Top Senior. We’re extremely proud to have named Robel Clifton as this year’s Top Graduating Senior.
