3D Faculty Lead Call

Program Overview

The Interdisciplinary Studies (Triple Discipline or 3D) Program allows undergraduate students to combine three Boise State minors, or two minors and a certificate, to form their degree plan. We closely monitor course and area overlap to ensure that each student’s degree plan is truly interdisciplinary and aligned with university standards. All 3D students take an introductory course (IDS 300) to set them up for success in the major, and later take a 3D-specific capstone course (IDS 491). Our 3D students appreciate the ability to weave together academic areas that align with their specific interests.

Opportunity Overview

We seek a faculty leader to oversee the 3D program, with an emphasis on expanding student support and faculty involvement. As the program currently stands, we have a solid foundation with healthy enrollments, bookend courses, and high-support advising. Moving forward, we have opportunities to shape the 3D student experience in unique ways (e.g. mentoring, community-building, career development, etc) and to include more faculty partners.

The Faculty Lead will work closely with Kelly Myers, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Student Success, and Alizabeth Gaddie, Associate Director of Academic Advising. The Faculty Lead serves a two-year term, beginning in fall 2022.
