Bronco Hub Readiness Testing

Overview

What

Oracle regularly releases patches (system updates) in Bronco Hub in an effort to make incremental improvements to the cloud based product. Each patch is released in a test environment two weeks before it’s implemented in the production environment used by university employees.

OCI facilitates readiness testing to ensure the system functions as expected after each patch. There are approximately 1,000 test scenarios completed in the first two days of each testing cycle.

When

Oracle patches are released in February, May, August and November.

Communication is sent to the campus community prior to the patch being released.

Who

OCI partners with department reps and other administrative areas to test critical Bronco Hub functionality in the test environment.

If issues are identified, OCI works to resolve the issue before they are introduced in the production environment.

Why is Bronco Hub Readiness Testing important?

Confirm System Accuracy

Readiness testing ensures critical processes work as expected in our system BEFORE Oracle applies the patch into Production.

If the system isn’t thoroughly tested, it’s possible defects will be introduced in production which may negatively impact end users.

Confirm Process Accuracy

Testing ensures the system is functional, stable and meets process requirements.

End User Awareness

After testing is completed, communication is sent to impacted areas to provide awareness of any issues, workarounds and other pertinent information that needs to be shared.
