BSU Professors Complete Ten for Teaching Certificate

Gaby Dagler

Please join the CTL in congratulating Dr. Gaby Dagher and Dr. Michael Ekstrand, both Assistant Professors in the Department of Computer Science (CS), who have recently completed the Ten for Teaching Certificate! Boise State is fortunate to have such thoughtful and reflective faculty who care about their students’ learning and success.

Gaby has over eight years of experience teaching graduate and undergraduate CS and cybersecurity courses. His teaching philosophy is guided by three principles: adopting a student-centric approach, incorporating advanced teaching techniques like team-based learning, and providing hands-on experience to solve real-world problems. His research interests center around cybersecurity, with emphasis on information security and privacy, applied cryptography, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and cloud computing.

Michael has been teaching for more than seven years, both online and in-person, primarily teaching topics related to managing, analyzing, and using data. His most recent major teaching effort was building out fully asynchronous content delivery for CS 533 (Introduction to Data Science), now available as an Open Educational Resource.
