May 2025 Everyday Teaching Awardees

The Center for Teaching and Learning is committed to celebrating and highlighting great teaching at Boise State. No matter how small or large a teaching gesture, project, or effort may be, they all make an impact on our learning community. Every month, we are recognizing “Everyday Teaching” in our monthly newsletter. Join us in congratulating Nathaniel Williams (Social Work) and Stela Saltaga (Communication), who have been nominated for their everyday teaching. Here’s some of what the nominators said about them:

Nathaniel Williams “This semester, Nate signed up to administer the Ascend Survey in his SOCWRK 531 class.  The course focuses on research analysis using quantitative and qualitative data.  Nate understands that this content can be difficult for many students, so he wanted to ensure he could teach the content while creating an inviting learning space.  I’ve met with Nate twice this semester to discuss the student survey and instructional strategies to implement in his graduate course.  Nate is always positive and willing to go above and beyond to support the students.  I leave our meetings energized by his enthusiasm, care for students, and his dedication to teaching.”

Stela Saltaga “Stela is an outstanding educator in the Department of Communication. She brings not only deep expertise but also genuine care and encouragement to her students’ learning journey. Her interactive teaching style is a student favorite—many go out of their way to engage with her both in and out of the classroom. Stela’s support doesn’t stop with her students; she also uplifts her colleagues. Whether she’s helping organize social events or simply sharing her positive energy, she makes those around her feel valued and appreciated. This year marks Stela’s fifth anniversary at Boise State, and the campus community is truly fortunate to have her.”
