Studying reflection as a self-assessment tool for online learning

Ya Mo, Ph.D., College of Education

About the project

It is often difficult to assess how much a student is learning in an online course because of the lack of interaction and the high level of autonomy. Dr. Mo has developed a new method of assessment in which students take a test made up of both constructive-response and selected-response questions and then complete a self-evaluation based on feedback from professors and provided correct answers to determine how well they did. They will be asked to rationalize their decisions in the test and in the self-evaluation to create an understanding of how much they have learned.
