Check if you are in-network

All students, faculty and staff can be seen at the Health Center, whether they are insured through their parents, spouses, themselves, or are uninsured. Please visit our Services page for an overview of the services provided.

Health Services will bill most insurance carriers. We are in-network with several local and regional insurance plans and networks. Many out of state insurance companies have geographic exclusions which limits coverage for care performed out of state.

We strongly encourage you to check with your insurance carrier prior to your appointment to make sure Health Services is in-network with your plan. To find out if Health Services is in-network with your insurance company simply call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask if the provider you are scheduled to see is in your network.

Here are the steps:

  1. CONTACT your insurance: Ask if you have coverage in Idaho (Primary care, urgent care, specialty care, ER). Is a referral or prior authorization required to be seen at Health Services
  2. ASK if the provider you are scheduled to see is in your network. For a list of our providers visit boisestate.edu/healthserivces/staff. Reference the Boise State tax ID 820290701.
  3. INQUIRE what your member responsibility may be: Copay, deductible, and coinsurance.

We strive to assist patients with navigating through insurance questions and concerns, but it is the patient’s responsibility to make sure the provider they are scheduled to see is in-network with their respective plans. Health Services is not responsible for your insurance processing charges out of network.

Prior Authorization

Some insurance companies require prior authorization for certain services such as mental health consultations and therapy or various procedures. You may wish to contact your insurance company to verify your benefits. At this time Health Services does not perform prior authorizations.
