Job Posting: American Goshawk Seasonal Avian Technicians

Seasonal Hiring Timeline

NOTE: this is an inactive job posting from a previous season. We often hire for similar projects each year, so this offers an example of the type of work that may be available for our upcoming field season. Please check our most recent job postings as well as the TAMU job board for our current offerings. We typically begin posting summer positions in late December or January.

We are looking for avian biologists to join our team to assist with American Goshawk surveys and monitoring, in National Forests across Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. Duties will include survey site scouting, conducting goshawk surveys, collecting nest site attributes, monitoring discovered nest to assess nest success and productivity, and keeping an updated daily log of surveys and mileage. There may be opportunities to trap adult birds, climb nest trees, and band adult and nestlings birds, but this is dependent upon finding nests and demonstrating proficiency during training. Positions will begin at the end of May with in the field training and continue until late July or early August (limited flexibility in the start or end date might be possible).
