Deceased? July 2018

Alpha Flag Code:

LA

Capture date:

5-3-18

Sex:

Male

Location:

Cinder Cone Butte on the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey NCA

Namesake:

Cinder was named after Cinder Cone Butte by The Curlew Crew Facebook Fans during a live video feed while we were attaching his transmitter!

After he migrated south, volunteer Susan Nelson discovered that Cinder’s transmitter began giving the “transmitter down signal” in July. In early August, a colleague at California Department of Fish and Wildlife found the transmitter & fully-intact harness – no feathers or remains – in an alfalfa field in the San Joaquin Valley. Because his harness was intact, we know that it did not fray and fall off, so we suspect that he is deceased.
