Password Recovery Tool

Boise State’s password recovery tool allows you to reset your password 24/7, eliminating the need to provide sensitive data to the Help Desk for identity verification.

The password recovery tool requires enrollment: You will need to provide and verify a personal email address (not your Boise State email address) or cell phone number. This information is used to confirm your identity when a password reset is requested.

Password Recovery Tool

To enroll in the password recovery tool:

  1. Navigate to or click the Reset/Create Password link on the myBoiseState login page.
  2. Sign in using your Boise State username and password.
  3. On the Enrollment tab, click the link to Add Email or Add mobile number (or both).
Note: If you already have a “home” email address listed in PeopleSoft, it has been automatically imported into the tool. Please verify this address is correct or add a different email address. The email address you provide should be something other than your Boise State email. You’ll want to make sure you can access the email if you get locked out of your Boise State account!
  4. A verification code will be sent to the email or mobile number provided. Enter the code in the field provided.
  5. Once enrollment is complete, sign out using the account drop-down menu.

If you have already enrolled and are locked out of your account or need to reset your password when it expires:

  1. Navigate to or click the Reset/Create Password link on the myBoiseState login page.
  2. Click the Reset Password link.
  3. Enter your Boise State username and select Continue.
  4. Choose a method to verify your identity and click Continue. (The choices available are the methods you provided during enrollment.)
  5. Verify your identity and reset your password.
      • If you verify using an email address, a password reset link will be emailed to you. You’ll have 30 minutes to reset your password using that link.
      • If you verify using an SMS code, enter the code in the field provided in the tool and select Continue.
