Eligibility

Students

Students must be enrolled and registered for classes at Boise State. Registration status is verified on the tenth day of each semester.

The Microsoft 365 license for students expires 30 days following graduation, or when you are no longer actively enrolled and registered for classes at Boise State.

Once your license expires, you will be able to view Microsoft 365 files using the software and will not be able to edit those files. You do not lose access to the software over the summer or winter breaks if you are enrolled for the following semester.

Employees

Faculty and staff must be current employees in order to download and use Microsoft 365 applications through the Microsoft 365 for Students program.

Program Details

• The Microsoft 365 for Students program allows eligible students, staff and faculty at Boise State to download, install and use Microsoft 365 software for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
• Eligible students, staff and faculty can install and use Microsoft 365 software on up to five devices.
• Follow the download instructions below and use your Boise State email address to activate your Microsoft 365 for Students license.

License Limitations

• While your license includes access to Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage, note that access to your files expires along with your software license.
• If you decide to use OneDrive, be aware you will lose access to files when your license expires. We recommend you use your Boise State Google Drive account for storing your files in the cloud.

Included Software

Office for Windows

Includes full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, InfoPath, Skype for Business.

Office for Mac

Includes full versions of Word for Mac, Excel for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, Outlook for Mac.

Computer Requirements

Windows Computers

• Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 8.1
• Computer and processor: 1.6 GHz or faster, 2 or more cores
• Memory: Minimum 4 GB of RAM
• Disk Space: 4GB available hard drive space
• Display: 1280x 768 resolution or higher

Mac Computers

• Operating System: macOS 10.14 or newer (Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur)
• Processor: Intel processor
• Memory: Minimum 4 GB of RAM
• Disk Space: 10 GB available hard drive space
• Display: 1280 x 800 resolution or higher
